The carbon emissions trading scheme is when you are given a certain amount of tons which you can use in a year. If you go over that limit then you have to pay a special tax but if you don’t go over the limit you get something called carbon credits. You can either keep your carbon credits and use them next year or you can sell them to people who have gone over the limit. A man named Ross Garnaut released a report talking about this scheme on Friday the 4th of July 2008 the problem is that it will send petrol food basically anything that has been made in a factory or rig etc skyrocketing. That will mean that you won’t be able to go on your yearly holiday because the air fare will be way too expensive. Some of the people who can’t afford food already will be in a lot of trouble.
Some say that is going to be a good idea because it is supposed to take Australia’s pollution down to two percent by 2020. By using this scheme in Australia hopefully some of the countries like China and India who mass produce lots of products might try the same idea and use less carbon dioxide. Apparently cows produce more pollution than cars in a year because they emit methane which causes more pollution than carbon dioxide which the cars produce.
I think that the idea would probably work except the hobos probably wouldn’t be able to buy themselves food. And so in conclusion I think it’s a good idea and I wonder why we were not already doing it.
A strike is when workers temporarily quit and grab signs and banners and start protesting about things such as work conditions, pay and other stuff like that. Strikes can be very powerful, because if one goes, big deal they can replace that person easily, but if all of them go… that may be a bit of a problem. Read the rest of this entry »
A strike is when workers temporarily quit and grab signs and banners and start protesting about things such as work conditions, pay and other stuff like that. Strikes can be very powerful, because if one goes, big deal they can replace that person easily, but if all of them go… that may be a bit of a problem. A strike is started by a union which negotiates with the boss to see if they can get better wages etc. if the says no then that’s how a strike can start.
An illegal strike is when people strike without permission on whether it’s okay. Some people think that striking is wrong because it pressures the boss into paying his employees wages that he can’t afford.
I think that striking is fair because imagine a world without strikes. You would have no freedom, you could even work for twenty cents an hour and you couldn’t change it. You would have to put up with it or quit. So that’s why I think that striking is fair
Mulesing is a procedure when the farmer shaves a patch of skin on the sheeps backside and can be very painful and bloody for the sheep but apparently only lasts for a small amount of time.
