On the 8th of August the Beijing 2008 Olympics started and things are going really well or maybe a little to well ?

China has been very prepared for this years Beijing Olympics. The games are costing china 40 billion dollars and most of that is from all the new stadiums like the birds nest and the water cube. The other bits of money are going to all the costumes and props and the thousands of dancers they need for the opening ceremony. Also the Chinese government are teaching their people proper manners and telling them not to pick their nose or spit because the Chinese government want other countries to think that china is one of the best Olympics so that means that everyone in china has to look perfect and be perfect.

Only thirty years ago china was very different than it is now. Back then china was in poverty and the area was not very developed but since that time the Chinese government say things have gotten a lot better and far fewer people suffer poverty. Also Chains main cities are very modern as well as other western ones around the world. Chain say that the Olympic games are a chance to show the world how far their nation has come.

AFL Girls

Madison and Jesse play for a football club called the Wollongong’s Figtree Kangaroos. The Two girls just recently have received a letter from their footy club saying they can t play footy for the under fifteens this year because the officials think that the under fifteens will be to rough for the two girls and the boys will be to big and strong for them.

Madison, Jesse and their mums are very angry about the girls not being able to play footy for the under fifteens. People have offered the girls to play in a level below the under fifteens but the girls have refused it because all they want is to play with their team in the under fifteens.

I think Madison and Jesse should be able to play for the under fifteens because the girls seemed to be just as good as the boys in the other level and boys didn’t hurt them so it shouldn’t be any different for the under fifteens ?

In Afghanistan one of the most dangerous places in the world are many aussie soldiers who are training and fighting there. Most of the soldiers have their own dog. These dogs are called sniffer dogs. The army uses them to sniff out danger and other important things. I think what the sniffer dogs are doing is great because every day these brave dogs are making a difference and even saving lives! Which is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
