Mulesing is shaving a sheep’s backside wool and some skin off, so that the wool won’t grow back. Mulesing was introduced in the 1930’s to keep the Australian Sheep Fly from laying eggs. The eggs hatch into maggots that crawl into the sheep’s skin, which may kill the sheep.

There are people who think mulesing is cruel to sheep. Some of the clothing companies from other countries are refusing to buy wool from farmers. There have been big protests. Australia is going to stop mulesing by 2010. Read the rest of this entry »

The space program NASA has sent out a probe called Phoenix, to try and land on Mars. But NASA is nervous about sending a probe to Mars because it costs so much money.

Scientists have to go though an agonizing 7 minutes, known as the 7 MINUTES OF TERROR! These 7 minutes of terror are when the probe passing and when it is landing. Read the rest of this entry »

Finally some of the troops that went to Iraq are coming home. Troops that left in 2003 have been in Iraq for 5 years finally get to see their familys again.

They have been in Iraq for varies reasons. One of them is to hunt Saddam Hassein part of the Iraq government; he has been manufacturing devastatingly dangerous weapons. He has also mistreated the people of Iraq. Eventually they caught him he was in a cave and later found guilty in a court. He was hung.

But some solders Australia and other countries are staying in Iraq. To help rebuild and other things like food and shelter.

But some people don’t like this they say the troops should stay these people are manly the old government who sent the solders to Iraq in the first place.

Then there are the people who are overjoyed that they get to see their loved. They are sending home 550 solders home. They are doing this to get votes in the election.

I think other countries are pulling out because they feel there work is done in Iraq but I do not think that they should leave. With all those innocent people still in danger. I also feel that the people of Iraq will be frightened once we leave.
