   How would you feel if your pet cat Tiddles was banned from Australia? Well, a certain kind of cat has been. The Savannah cat is part serval and part domestic house cat, and has been banned because they pose more danger to the native environment than ordinary house cats. They are large, fast and athletic, as well as having the the instincts of the serval, which is one of the best hunters among the big cats, and these skills make it a dangerous threat if it gets loose into Australia.     Most people have heard about what’s happened in five states of Australia. If you don’t know, it was a teacher strike that gave children a day off school because the teachers wanted more money for their work.

   Iraq has been a war zone for a long time, and it all started in 2003, 5 years ago, when a group of countries including America, Australia and Britain invaded, all to arrest Saddam Hussein, after claims that the president mistreated his people and had access to weapons of mass destruction.    Recently, a $430 000 000 probe landed on mars. It was called the Phoenix. It’s mission was to find out if the frozen water on the northern and the southern poles once sustained life. It does that by getting ice samples from the ground, super-heating them, checking for the chemicals given out by life and sending the data back to NASA via satellite. Read the rest of this entry »

   Why do we have zoos? I believe that it is a place to study animals that is as close to it’s natural environment so it’s comfortable. Others believe it’s a place to run around and have fun.     Recently, scientists have been performing a lot of research around Antarctica. After they had discovered that the salinity of Antarctica’s waters has been dropping, it was basically an Antarctica’s research-for-all. Recently, a school in Sydney has purchased finger-print scanners to replace the old fashioned roll-call. Each person has different finger-prints, so after scanning them into the system, teachers know instantly if a person is present or not. Read the rest of this entry »
