Auzzie troops along with the English, American and many other countries invaded Iraq in 2003. So for five years lots of countries have been fighting over there. So what were they fighting for? Well, over in Iraq a guy called Saddam Hussein was treating people really badly and was said to be building weapons of mass destruction. But in 2006 he was found hiding underground. He was hanged.
So why did the troops stay in Iraq? The troops have been doing a lot of work with the community like building houses and schools. Some of the countries have pulled out their troops because it may have been too dangerous. Some have stayed though because they think their services are still needed.
Australia has sent about 2500 troops over to Iraq and about 600 are staying for other reasons. All of the fighting troops have left or are leaving soon. But the previous government say that the troops are coming home too early.
I reckon that it is not okay for some countries to stay when others stay because when Saddam Hussein was knocked off other rebels wanted to take over the countries therefore the countries left at Iraq will have even more work to do. Because so many countries are leaving the fight I think that Iraq will turn out really bad.

Wilsons Promontory CampMondayThe journey first began as we took our seats and the bus headed off to Leongatha, where all the year sixes would eat their morning tea.
