Lately there has been some arguing about if we should spend more money on making our athletes better for the Olympic Games.

Most people say we should keep spending lots of money on are athletes because we need to keep getting lots of medals to boost our national pride. Others say we need to put all this money into sport so we can pay all the coaches and scientist who are helping our athletes get better in their sport.

Some other people have a different opinion about this. They say that we should spend the money on education so that we can pay are teachers and we should give some of the money to the people who have stuff to do with medical things.

In conclusion I say that we should spend the money on our sport because I think most people like watching Australia win gold at the Olympic games.

In America there is a type of cat called the super cat or the savannah cat. The cat is part African servile and half a normal domestic cut but the Australian government has banned it from coming into Australia.

Some people are not very happy about this because these cats are very playful and they are big enough to walk on a leash. Others like the way it can be very acrobatic and can jump really high.

Others don’t won’t this cat coming in because when cats run away and become ferrel, and ferrel cats can kill heaps of animals a year but if this cat got ferrel I would kill heaps more because it is part African servile which are known as one of the best hunters ever.

In conclusion I say these cats should be aloud in Australia because they are very friendly an would be fun to play with and also they have to be de sexed so they cant breed in Australia

We all know about climate change and how it is affecting the earth. Now the government has introduced a thing called carbon emission trading and it works like this. The government only lets you make a certain amount of carbon emissions and if you make heaps of carbon emissions but your friend makes hardly any you will have to pay to give some of your carbon emissions to your friend.

Some people think this is a good idea because it will make people realise that this is a really big problem and it might slow down the effects of global warming. Another reason is that it will make businesses that make heaps of carom emissions make less.

Other people don’t like this idea because some families are already struggling with the rising prices of petrol and food and to add this to their cost would be very mean. Others say it would be use less just Australia doing it because its not very big but if china join in it might make a big difference.

I say that we all should do the best we can do to lower the amount of pollution we make and do are best to save the planet.

Aboriginal people have a new way to pass down stories it is called hip hop rap but it has an Australian twist to it. It is happening in a town called Yuendumu and the kids have already made a film clip for their song.

It is a lot different to their original corroboriees but it still is the same thing telling stories. Telling stories is very important for aboriginal people because it keeps their languages alive and it is how they learn. If aboriginal people stop telling stories there likely to forget their history. Some people say that they are copying African Americans but others say that they have had simular experiences so they can relate to the music. Aboriginals have lost a lot of languages since the Europeans came in.

Now they are going to Wakairri Festival which people do songs and dance to tell stories. It is an important that aboriginals have a say because I makes them fell in portent in their community .

Some people and companies are refusing to buy and wear products made by sheep wool. It’s because of a thing called mulesing. It is when you cut the patch if skin
off the back side of the sheep. Most people don’t like this because it is cruel but farmers say it is worth it because it will save the sheep a lot of pain.

They do it because of a fly which likes the bit of the skin under the tail. The fly lays its eggs there which hatch into maggots. Soon as the eggs hatch the maggots start to eat away at the sheep’s flesh. This can be very painful or even fatal to the sheep.

Some people have breed a type of sheep that don’t need to have mulesing but most sheep in Australia still have to have their skin cut off. Now there is heaps of research going on to try and find away to fix this problem. Animal rights say try and find away to do this painlessly or it will be stoped by 2010.

Prices for fuel are going up dramatically lately, and a lot of people are very angry because it is starting to cost to, much. But on some day’s fuel is lower so if you run out of fuel on one day it might cost you heaps but if you run out on another day it won’t cost you as much so some people say they are getting ripped off.

Now the ACCC has made a web site called fuel watch which shows you the prices of the fuel a different at days and different stations and different types. The ACCC says that fuel watch can save people at leased 2c per l and it will stop the constant changing of the prices through out the day.

Heaps of people like this idea because it saves them time and money because they no where it is cheaper and where it is more expensive around the world. Other people don’t like this idea because It might put little stations out of business and it might even out the prices. I don’t have an opinion on this because I don’t have a car but I know my mum and dad don’t like the rising petrol prices because is a wast of money

Graffiti can be annoying to people because it can be messy and hard to clean and it is illegal because of this. Some people think graffiti is an art form but they have rules of no tagging and only making really good art pieces in alleyways and train tracks. Read the rest of this entry »

Australian scientist’s think they have found a way to bring extinct animals back to life. Tasmanian tigers other wise know as Thylacine (which means pouch dog with wolf head) became extinct because of over hunting, habitat destruction and disease. The last time one of these animals was seen was at Hobart zoo in an enclosure.

Now scientists are taking the D.N.A. out of dead a Thylacine and putting it in unborn baby mice. D.N.A. OR genes are the things that make you who you are; there are genes for hair colour, skin colour, body build and a lot more. So if you get the genes from a dead Thylacine and put it in an unborn mouse the theory is that you would get an alive Tassie Tiger. Once they put the genes in the unborn mouse and left it in the lab for a while they could see the bone structure of a Thylacine in side the unborn mouse because they dyed the D.N.A. blue. This made the scientist get very excited. A lot of people think this is a good idea because it would be good to learn a lot more about these animals and they could bring back other animals as well like the Dodo.

Other people think this is the wrong thing to do because it is cruel towards the animals that have the D.N.A. injected into them. They also think it is dangerous to interfere with Mother Nature and they say the eco system has got used to not having the Tiger so it could cause trouble.

I agree with using D.N.A. for research on animals only. To use it on humans could be potentilla dangerous as the effects of cloning humans could cause serious disagreements among people politicians and religious groups around the world. Another thing that could happen is that when they clone the animals there might be behaviour differences and over things that could be potentially dangerous to the eco system.

If you think of a shark you would probably think of a terrifying man eating creature but there is one person who thinks a lot different he is called Rob Stewart and sees sharks as the gentle dragons of the sea. He is trying to stop people thinking that sharks go around trying to kill people like in movies such as jaws, and make them believe that they are nice creatures.
Now he is making a movie about sharks and when he went to a marine sanctuary which is there to protect animals he found heaps of shark dead caught up in fishing lines and when he went to china he found hundreds of shark fins on roofs drying getting ready to be cooked into a shark fin soup which cost $400 per bowl. So he is disgraced to see thousand of sharks getting killed each year.
Also we shouldn’t be killing the sharks because they are a big help to the ecosystem because they eat the fish and if there is no sharks there would be too much fish and the fish eat the phyoplankton and if there is to not enough phyoplankton there is to much carbon dioxide in the water.
I think sharks are scary because they can be dangerous but they are nice if you are nice to them.

The government are thinking of changing the Werribee zoo so it has a theme park as well and it will be called African safari world. A lot of people are disagreeing with this idea because some people think no one will go see the animals any more and it will be to noisy for the animals. Read the rest of this entry »
