In the 1976 Olympics Australia got no gold medals many of the athletes were very disappointed in their effort but then the government made a special building, it was called The Australian Institute of Sport. Then in the next Olympics we ended up winning some gold medals. Now Australia is coming 4th because the Australian Institute of Sport but the question is should we spend our money on sport?

The Australian government should keep spending money on sport because since the 1976 Olympics Australia is now in the top 5 in the world of sport and if they stop again and it wouldn’t be fun to watch. If the athletes keep training hard they could end up being at the top of their game and be number 1# in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

Today’s story is about money for sport should the government pay more money on elite athletes? Team coaches have left their teams and gone and helped other countries and teams by coaching them because they are getting paid more.

So should we spend more money? Here are some points for spending more money so Australia has a better chance at the Olympic Games and so we can make more Australians fitter.

Why should we spend more money on athletes? Here are some points against spending more money on our athletes .We could be spending money on the medicine or for scientists to make new discoveries.

I think we should spend more money on our athletes because their already good enough and we could use the money for scientists or medicine.

The point of the story was to tell you about the new species of cats called the savannah and why they are being banned. The best way to describe the new super cat is exotic and playful. The savannah cat is referred as because it is faster more agile and boy can it jump. The savannah cat was created by crossing an African serval with a normal domestic cat.

Some characteristics of a serval are the quick strong and are really smart so they are considered one of the best hunters out of all the wild cats. Some people think super cats make great pets because they are very playful and you can even walk them around on a lead. The down side to these great pets is because when a normal cat goes feral it usually kills about 1000 animals so the government is thinking what if this cat gets out. The government is deciding to ban them coming in because if a normal cat goes feral it usually eats about 1000 native Australian animals a year and the government thinks if these savannah cats get out the problem would become much worse and they think that the savannah is still to closely related to the African serval and they might be dangerous.

Breeders think much different they think that under there plan they would all be desexed and wouldn’t be able to breed. I think that they shouldn’t ban the savannah because it sounds like a great pet and it is playful.

Paparazzi known as photoholics, rich(sometimes) and very annoying for celebrities. The “paparazzi” try to get celeb photo’s because magazines,tv stations and the internet pay so much money for all the goss they can get . The USA and Europe have made a law that the paparazzi have to get permission from the celeb they photograph before showing the world that picture. But in Australia they can do anything with the photo and anything to get the photo, also why are we interested in the celebs anyway? Well because celebs are our role models and they are our trend setters.but why is the goverement worried about this?? Read the rest of this entry »

The Savannah cat is a cross between the African Serval and a domestic cat. It has been banned in Australia, and some people think this is a really unfair decision. The Australian Government has decided that if brought here, the cats would kill heaps of wildlife, and so should not be allowed altogether.

Breeders who were planning to introduce them here are cross at this, saying that the supercats would be desexed and under control all the time. To get exercise they would be walked on special leads and play active games, therefore reducing their want and need to go chase and hunt small creatures. They are big, active, agile, playful and fun loving. They are also said to be very happy to be with respectful and quiet children. They’re described as perfect for cat lovers, and being bigger then normal kitties means that there’s just a lot more to cuddle!

Others disagree because while they may be cute looking if the Super cats get loose and feral, the amount of birds and other native animals that’d get killed each year will be tremendous. Normal house cats are estimated to kill around one thousand native critters a year already! Now picture a giant cat known for being one of the best hunters out of all the cats, roaming Australia! Plus with claws that size and teeth that sharp, who’s to say that it won’t go feral if it wants to? How would an ordinary citizen stop the cat from getting out? No one can guarantee that they will or won’t. Oh and did you notice the bit saying: They are also said to be very happy to be with respectful and quiet children, so what does a Super cat classify as “respectful” and “quiet”? What if the cat comes across the family baby crying, and the cat gets annoyed or frightened? I’d hate to think what could happen to small children around the Savannah cat!

I am glad about the decision the Government has made to keep them out. I think we should be happy with sweet and tame domestic cats, and that we don’t need another predator in Australia. I mean, we’re still trying to get rid of foxes! Give Oz a break!

Some people want to ban a super cat but what is a super cat, it is a savannah wild cat cross with a domestic cat, the new super cat is bigger, stronger and can jump twice as high.

There are some reasons why it should not be banned that is they are more playful and they are like a dog you can walk them around the street, Because they are dangerous they are very expensive but they are worth it that is what the owners say.

There are some bad reasons why is should be banned they are very good hunters and if they get out they can kill animals like birds and snakes because the have a very big leap that is why the government wants to ban is because it is bad for the environment some people say there not a super cat there more like a Villon.

I think the shouldn’t be banned because their owner should be taking good care of them and not making them turn into a wild cat.

China are a very happy country at the moment because they are hosting the 2008 XXIX Olympic games, although China are very happy at the moment they are still being extremely strict about what the Chinese can do.

The Olympic celebrations were Spectacular, Different and Expensive.

China spent 40 billion dollars on the opening ceremony, that’s a lot of money,

prior to the event  Chinese citizens who are living in were given a guide book on manners, some of the things that were in that were: Don’t pick your nose in public and don’t spit in the streets.

The Olympic Games have been so important to china because it promotes their country and encourages tourists to go to china so China were trying to clean up the air prior to the Olympic games so more athletes will come. The Chinese government is still being criticised because most people believe the Chinese citizens don’t have enough freedom and because China has lots of poverty.

The Chinese government wants the world to see that “China is a great place and it only has a bit of pollution which can be changed”

China have performed probably the best opening ceremony ever and the 2008 XXIX Olympic games should be remembered for a long time .

The paparazzi (people who like to photograph celebrities) will do any thing to get photos of celebrities (for huge amounts of money); however some celebrities are blaming the paparazzi for their emotional problems.

Princess Diana died in a car crash just after she was chased by the paparazzi, her family says that the paparazzi killed her emotionally (I agree). Now there are laws in Europe and United States of America that say paparazzi must have permission to take photos of celebrities, however Australia does not have those laws so the celebrities don’t have much privacy.

Paparazzi like all humans are inquisitive and they want to know personal stuff about celebrities so the public know as well (we all like to know what’s going on in the private lives of celebrities.

A School in Queensland requires their students to try and ride a mad bull with BIG horns sticking out of its head for eight seconds! Don’t ask me why some people would want to do this, they just do.

Josh Birks has been doing it since he was three! (I still wonder what his Mum and Dad were thinking at the time.) He won the Aussie Junior Champion title when he was twelve, (good for him) and now is following in the footprints of his grand master hero Troy Dunn who is the best in the world!

Rodeo is a really dangerous sport with heaps of injuries and it’s possible you’ll die! Josh’s bull once broke seven of his ribs, jumped on top of him, pierced his kidneys and then for seven weeks Josh was out cold. I seriously don’t get why they’d go back and hop on it again.

The guys have fun doing it which is nice, and Josh hopes to become a great world champion too some day! In rodeo you also have to keep your left hand up in the air!

Bull riding isn’t a thing I’d recommend, but those who enjoy it I wish them luck!
