The Werribee Open Zoo in Victoria are having a debate over trying to change the Werribee zoo into a theme park as well as zoo but some people don’t think it is right. Yes they will make more money but what about the animals? They won’t get any attention anymore because of all these roller coasters around and they won’t get any peace or quiet.
We have zoo’s because animals need care so zoo’s are the perfect
idea. Also animals that have had injuries or need treatments can stay at a zoo to recover.
The theme park is going to be built at the zoo called African Safari World. They think that African Safari World will be as succesful as Sea World and Wet and Wild.
The company called Village Roadshow is going to plant Roller coasters,Fake mountains,Restaurants and interactive displays.

Maddy, I disagree because the way the park will be designed is similar to QLD theme parks & those animals aint distressed because the animal enclosures are on one side of the park & the rides are on another side. It would boost tourism & the economy with job prospects. At least you wouldn’t have to travel to the Gold Coast to go to the theme parks because we now have it our own city MELBOURNE. Franca
Hi Maddy,
Being in the Travel industry, I can see both side of this story, having said that, I agree with you, the zoo is design to give people an insight to they way these animals live in wild and I don’t think turning it into a theme park will advantage the animals in anyway, yes it will bring in more tourism dollars but I think it will take away the uniqueness of the park, maybe they could do something like have Tented Safari huts out in the ground like at Dubbo zoo, where people can go and stay and see “behind the scene’s” once the park is closed.
If you want to go to a theme park - go to QLD.
